The inspiration behind the theme song
The song opens by painting a picture of the hero’s humble beginnings: a boy from the coast “where the blue water gleams” with a heart “full of oceanic dreams” [00:11]. He traded his simple life—and his fishing lines—for a bold costume and “some powers from the sea” [00:21].
The chorus immediately establishes his might:
- He’s “swift as a current, strong as a tide” [00:30].
- Water is his weapon, leaving villains “nowhere left to hide” [00:35].
- He can fly on a geyser and controls a monsoon, “saving every day from morning till the moon” [00:39].
All these keypoints were utilized in the lyrics by Dustin to create a theme song that quickly brought Tiger Barb from his roots on a calm sea in previous iterations, directly into his new home in Japan.
